Data Architect | AWS & Modern Data Platforms

At Possumus, we are looking for a Senior Data Architect to join an international insurance company driving the modernization of its data ecosystem.

In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable cloud data architectures, supporting the migration from legacy platforms to modern Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and Lakehouse solutions.

You will work closely with Engineering, Analytics, Product and Business teams, defining end-to-end data strategies while remaining hands-on in the implementation of modern data platforms.

What you will be doing

-Design secure, scalable and modern cloud data architectures.

-Lead large-scale migrations from legacy platforms to Data Lakes, Data Warehouses and Lakehouse architectures.

-Design and optimize batch, near real-time and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines.

-Define scalable data models for analytics, reporting and business consumption.

-Optimize cloud infrastructure performance, query execution and operational costs.

-Implement Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform.

-Define data governance, monitoring, logging, IAM and compliance best practices.

-Optimize and manage platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake.

-Collaborate with Engineering, Analytics, Security and Product teams to deliver scalable data solutions.

-Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across the data platform.

Minimum requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a Data Architect, Senior Data Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong experience designing cloud-native data architectures.
  • Advanced experience with AWS services including S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, Redshift, CloudWatch and EC2.
  • Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Delta Lake and BigQuery.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, Data Marts and Lakehouse architectures.
  • Advanced Python, SQL and PySpark.
  • Experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines using Airflow and AWS Glue.
  • Experience leading large-scale cloud data migrations.
  • Knowledge of secure cloud infrastructure including Docker, Kubernetes, IAM, VPC and VPN.
  • Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions.
  • Professional English for technical documentation and collaboration

Nice to have

  • Experience in Banking, Financial Services, Insurance, Retail or FMCG industries.
  • Real-time or near real-time analytics architectures.
  • Cloud cost optimization initiatives.
  • Data quality frameworks and automated data validation.
  • Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory or Synapse Analytics.
  • Power BI knowledge.
  • Terraform Infrastructure as Code expertise.
